Why should I bother? It seems like a nuisance. Answer - You will find it very helpful for a number of reasons: We all cannot remember as well as we think we do. The food and event log helps us keep track of our safe foods. We can look back at our log and chart our progress. The log helps us expand our inventory of safe foods. The log helps us pinpoint problems and back track if needed. Once you get used to it, you will find that keeping the log is not a problem. Some use spread sheets or personal digital assistants. Now with the smart phones, some will use that. The design can be totally what suits you. The principles can be explained below with the example of the spiral notebook.
Spiral notebook Food and Event Log
The easiest is an 8" x 11" spiral bound notebook. Make two columns on the left side about an inch wide. In these columns, note the time. Start by entering the date. The far left is for time of BM's and the next one is for everything else. The wide column on the rest of the page is for notes and comments. You note the time of a BM on the left and then in the wide column make some useful comments about it. For medications or meals, note the time taken in the column next to the left and then in the wide column note what you ate. If you are trying a new food, highlight that in yellow. You do not have to put in amounts unless it is useful to you for your own personal reasons. After a while, you may not bother to enter the foods that you eat everyday, only new things or note different events such as a restaurant meal. The first time that you have to back track, you will see the value in taking the time to keep track of things.
